Letterpress Workshop Vouchers are now available to buy online for Christmas delivery.
Full Day Basic Introduction to Letterpress: Ideal for people who want to get technical or thinking of buying a press or have one and not sure where to start.
Half day: Ideal for those who just want to play.
All students will create their own personnel project to take home. More details are available on the listings here in the shop
I ran my first private letterpress workshop from the new studio on Wednesday with Julia and Hannah but we got so engrossed forgot to take any pictures...

Just wanted to thank you for a lovely day today. We both learned such a lot in such a short time.  Like so many-Hannah has been struggling to find a job since she graduated so it was great to see her so enthusiastic
I will definitely fix up little frankenstein and get those business cards rolling and Id be very grateful for the links you mentioned too

Little frankenstein was Julia's small Adana that she had adapted to her needs which I'm happy to say I managed to get working!

Cultivate Creativity

A fantastic time was had by all at The Allotment Project Letterpress Workshop
cultivating some creativity. A fab bunch of people turned up and all went home with inky fingers and printed goodies.

ALLOTMENT PROJECT

I recently had the pleasure of working with Source Creative to create a logo for Creativity Works  Allotment Project. The logo had to form a block that represented an aerial view of an allotment and I had so much fun printing the textures from my very worn wood type, plus the grains from the back of the blocks were just as exciting! Some had saw marks which were perfect for the project. My favourite design was the top pic, I used a mixed font of 20 line condensed which to me represents the use of mismatched and recycled bits and bobs that go into building an allotment.
It's amazing how one job leads to another and now thanks to Cath and Source Creative, I will be also taking part in the project...

lost in time...

Only a few miles from my home, behind a derelict facade, lays a room of hidden treasure.
It was like stepping back in time in this old print shop full of huge iron beasts that have long laid idle, type lays locked up in galleys covered in dust. I wanted to document this time capsule before it becomes like many that have gone before it. Lost.

Did I come away with any treasures to keep? Of course! Pictures to follow when I've cleaned off the cobwebs ;o)

Managed to get hold of some pictures from the Preston PAD gallery drop in workshop I did way back in September. An extremely rushed large poster, 3 table top presses, 2 trays of wood type, metal type, very sore muscles, lots of lovely visitors but best of all a whole lot of fun!
Unfortunately due to lack of council funding the gallery has had to close and there are many others awaiting to hear their fate, going to be a bad year for the Arts which is very sad news!

Sorry for the lack of post, back to uni this week on the final year of my degree, lots of intense study!

Good news I'll be at the PAD gallery on Saturday with a selection of table top presses for you to print on, admission is free and you can even bring the kids along.

So if your passing that way please pop in and say hello, but please all don't come at once ;D
