Kraft pillow box packaging

Kraft large pillowbox packaging for the lovely Sharron at The Image Garden. Sharron wanted a box that she could enclose a memory stick instead of a CD. I was a little worried about light pink and green on brown kraft but with a little touch of opaque white ink instead of transparent white they came out perfect!
This was my first time printing with my new Chase Base with deep relief 1.52 plates from Lyme Bay Press. In reality you would print then die cut the shape but on short runs it more economically viable to print on pre cut boxes than have to pay for the cost of having a die cut made. The joy of letterpress, couldn’t do this with your modern printing methods! Though not being able to use registration marks can sometimes prove a pain the grid on the base made it simple, perfect registration and position!

  1. It looks great and the colours come out really well on the kraft. Glad to hear the base is good, hoping to get one soon!

    1. Hi Malin, yes definitely a good investment and the plates peel off really easy for adjustment! I love it, so glad I invested in one ;) x

  2. That looks great! I'm glad you made a post about it, because I'm still thinking about buying a base for my Adana and try to use plates. Now I only print with type, but it's much more limited.

    1. Thanks Maartje! Yes you are limited with type, plus constantly getting a deep impression you will end up with worn type! They post to Europe too so that's great for you! I'll do some more post as I print with the base which I will hope will be useful x
